Sapphire has three major chemical properties: high temperature resistance, high pressure resistance, and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for high temperature, high pressure, and corrosive environments.
Compared with other glass materials, sapphire has excellent substitutability, safety, and service life. It is used as a deep-water protective mirror, chemical mirror, high-speed protective mirror, safety protective mirror, and works in harsh environments to protect cameras, monitoring instruments, etc.
Sapphire also has spectral transmission characteristics ranging from 200nm (up to 165nm) to 5500nm. It can be used as a multispectral window from ultraviolet to infrared, and can be used for optical equipment protection in fields such as optoelectronics and aerospace. At present, it is an excellent alternative material for multispectral sulfur based window materials.
1、High transparency and wavelength selectivity
The sapphire light guide block has good transparency in the near ultraviolet, visible light, and near-infrared bands, which enables it to effectively transmit the laser wavelength required for IPL beauty devices. Meanwhile, by coating a cut-off filter film on one end face of the sapphire light guide block, specific wavelengths of light can be cut off and transmitted. For example, the common sapphire IPL light guide block will cut off light below 575nm and allow light between 600nm and 1200nm to pass through. This wavelength selectivity ensures precise control of laser energy and depth of action, thereby achieving optimal cosmetic results.
2、High hardness and wear resistance
Sapphire crystal has extremely high hardness (Mohs 9) and is one of the hardest materials in nature, second only to diamond. This high hardness enables the sapphire light guide block to resist high-frequency use without being easily worn, thereby extending the service life of the beauty device. In the IPL beauty device, the sapphire light guide block serves as the laser output port and needs to withstand high-intensity laser energy and frequent operations, making its high hardness and wear resistance particularly important.
3、Low thermal expansion coefficient and cooling effect
Sapphire has a low coefficient of thermal expansion and weak thermal conductivity. In the IPL beauty device, a certain amount of heat is generated when the laser is in close contact with the skin. The low thermal expansion coefficient and weak thermal conductivity of sapphire light guide blocks enable them to effectively absorb and disperse this heat, thereby avoiding laser irradiation on the surface of human skin and causing burns. This cooling effect not only improves the safety of the beauty process, but also enhances the comfort of the user.
4、Shape and processing flexibility
The shape of a sapphire light guide block is generally rectangular, rectangular, or conical, with two transparent surfaces. This shape design enables the laser to undergo total reflection and stable transmission inside the light guide block. At the same time, the sapphire light guide block can also be processed by punching, slotting, and coating treatment (such as cut-off filter film or anti reflection film) according to customer needs, further enhancing energy transmission capacity and beauty effect.
