    BK7 light guide block is an optical path conducting element made of N-BK7 optical glass material. This material has excellent transmittance performance in the visible to near-infrared wavelength range (400-2000nm), with a transmittance of over 92% in the uncoated state. When combined with an anti reflective film (such as MgF single-layer anti reflective film), the transmittance can be increased to 99%.

The light guide block works based on the principle of internal total reflection, which can effectively convert non-uniform light sources into uniform light sources without being affected by spectral characteristics. Compared to square light guides, its hexagonal structure reduces light loss by up to 35%. For light sources with small numerical aperture (NA) values, longer light pipes are required to achieve uniform light distribution; Light sources with larger numerical aperture values only require shorter light tubes to meet the requirements.


Main application areas

BK7 light guide block is widely used in various high-precision optical scenes:

Laser technology application: Suitable for laser focusing applications with wavelengths of 650-1000nm, ensuring minimal wavefront distortion. In 1064nm laser systems, N-BK7 plano convex lenses and other components are widely used.


Industrial measurement: used for high-precision retroreflectors, suitable for scenarios such as long-distance laser ranging and road laser speed measurement. 

Its high-strength packaging shell (aluminum alloy, stainless steel or engineering plastic) has anti vibration and anti impact performance, and can adapt to complex working conditions in industrial workshops.


Laboratory Optics: The N-BK7 right angled prism is polished to a surface flatness of λ/8, suitable for high-precision laboratory applications.

Excellent performance in general laboratory applications in the visible and near-infrared ranges.


Special environmental applications: Some models adopt IP65/IP67 sealing structure, which can effectively block dust and water vapor, suitable for outdoor meteorological monitoring, ocean exploration and other humid and dusty environments.
