Key Features
Optical performance
Fused silica has good transmittance in the ultraviolet and infrared bands, and is suitable for making optical elements such as UVC quartz chips, laser cavities, etc. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is extremely small (5.8 × 10 ⁻⁷/℃), and it has high thermal shock stability, making it suitable for environments with sudden temperature changes.
High temperature resistance
The melting point is about 1713 ℃, and the thermal conductivity varies significantly with temperature. It can transfer heat through radiation at high temperatures, making it suitable for high-temperature sensing or investment casting. However, it should be noted that crystallization may occur above 1000 ℃, affecting transparency.
Customized processing
It can be made into shaped parts such as light guide rods and fiber optic rods, supporting special designs such as stepped trapezoids and colors, and is commonly used in laboratory instruments or industrial equipment.
Typical Applications
Optical components: such as laser light guide rods and ultraviolet transmission windows.
High temperature sensing: Optical waveguide device is used for detecting the temperature of molten iron (avoiding long-term high-temperature crystallization).
Industrial materials: used as refractory materials or precision casting shells to enhance the dimensional stability of castings.
Precautions
Cleaning and maintenance: Use a soft cleaning cloth and specialized cleaning agent to clean and avoid scratching the surface.
Storage environment: Store in a dry, well ventilated environment to prevent moisture and mold.
Usage: During use, avoid severe vibration and collision to avoid affecting its optical performance.
